The founder's story — in her own words
I moved here with my four small children.
Caroline Harris founded Galicia & Green Spain. This is her own published account of the move, quoted as she wrote it:
“My name is Caroline and I moved to Galicia with my four small children in 2002. I was originally from South London and spent most of my young life there.
I did however have a connection to Galicia as my mother was born here and we often had holidays in Vigo in Pontevedra and Monforte in the Ribeira Sacra. We had previously lived 2 years in Catalunya in Castelldefels near Barcelona and later in Segur de Calafell a little further south on the Costa Dorada.
I wanted a different childhood for my children and a different lifestyle than I had experienced in London which was the main reason for moving to Spain. And after a little adjusting, we found it. We found a welcoming, children-friendly environment in Galicia, and lived life simply but to its full.
Although it wasn't plain sailing, we had to learn the language, there was a lot of paperwork which I still find hard to make sense of and the work ethic was quite different from what I had been used to, however, the pros outweighed the cons.

That line about the paperwork is the honest one, and it is the reason this company exists. Caroline has lived in Spain since 2000 and in Galicia since 2002, and still finds parts of the bureaucracy hard to make sense of. In the years since — including a spell volunteering with the charity Age in Spain — she has been helping other international families make the same move, with the difference that they don't have to learn it the hard way.
Every dead end we've hit, we now walk people around.
That's the whole reason this company exists. The reason we can hold your hand through the bureaucracy, get your foreign income accepted by a landlord, and be in the room at the appointments, is that every one of us has stood in those queues ourselves.
A property is one element of what we do. It is not the product. The product is a complete, supported transition into life in Spain — from the first appointment to the moment you're genuinely settled and independent.

In Lucie's words
“A home is much more than a property. It is the place where a new story begins.”
My name is Lucie, and I was born in Prague, Czech Republic. From a young age, I have always been curious about the world, discovering new cultures and embracing new experiences.
My first big adventure abroad took me to Munich, Germany, where I lived for several years. I studied German, immersed myself in a new culture, and took every opportunity to travel and discover the countries around me.
After a few years, I decided to continue my adventure in Spain and moved to the Canary Islands. There, I began learning Spanish and discovered a lifestyle that I fell in love with. For many years, I enjoyed everything the islands had to offer: scuba diving, climbing, yoga, nature, travelling and, above all, new experiences.
Over time, I became a mother, and the way I looked at life changed. As a mother, I started looking for something different: a place where my family could grow, enjoy nature, feel safe and have a good quality of life.
It was also during this time that I experienced something that has become a very important part of my professional experience: buying a home in the Canary Islands, selling it, and then buying another home in Galicia to begin a new chapter of our lives.
I know first-hand what it means to make the decision to move to another country or region, leave a home behind and start again. And I also know that when you have children, the process involves even more decisions, emotions and concerns.
It is not simply about finding a house. You have to think about schools, safety, the surrounding environment, services, distances, your children's adaptation and, above all, what everyday life will be like for the whole family in their new home.
As I travelled around Galicia, visiting its cities, villages, beaches and coastline, I gradually realised that I had found what I had been looking for: nature, peace, safety and a place where I could raise my children.
Galicia became our home.
At the same time, I continued developing my career in real estate. But over the years, I realised that what I truly enjoyed was not simply helping someone buy or sell a property. What I love most is helping people start a new life.
And I can understand them because I have been in their position.
I have lived in different countries, learned new languages, adapted to new cultures and started from scratch more than once. I have also personally experienced the process of buying, selling and buying another home in order to move my own family.
Today, I combine this personal experience with more than 10 years of professional experience in real estate.
My speciality is supporting international individuals and families who want to move to Galicia and need more than simply finding a property. They need someone who knows the journey, understands their questions and concerns, and can guide them throughout the entire process.
As a mother and as someone who has personally experienced the challenges of moving abroad, I understand many of the concerns that come with relocating a family. My goal is to make the process simpler, clearer and more reassuring, helping each person find not just a house, but the right place to build their new life.
Because to me, a home is much more than a property.
It is the place where a new story begins.
And after more than 10 years of working with people, I can honestly say that what I love most about my profession is still the same: listening, guiding and helping people through one of the most important changes of their lives.
